Ross is a jock with hope for a gal named Joan. Ross the jock will joke with Joan, but Joan will not dote on Ross the jock. Ross the jock has a joke, but Joan is not glad.
“Woe is me,” moans Ross the jock. “I have no hope. I will be alone, with no Joan.”
Hope is not lost. Joan has a note for Ross the jock. The jock reads the note. It says, “I like your joke, jock. Let’s take a date on a boat.”
Ross the jock hops and nods. He will go on a date with Joan, so he will not mope. Joan gave him a note, so he has a bit of hope.

Rose and Dom rode goats on a road. They like to chat and joke on the way home. Dom’s goat walks slow.
“This goat has a big load,” said Dom. “We can stop and rest by the road.”
“Nope!” said Rose. “You want to go slow. You don’t want to go home. You just want to dote on me and tell me jokes.”
“My jokes are so good!” said Dom. “You can quote them! But my goat can not go on. I will rest by the road.”
“I will rest with you,” said Rose. “But I hope you know, this is not a date.”
“I know, I know,” said Dom. “Don’t moan so much!”
