 When you add –ing to a verb, you have to be careful!

 

*If the verb ends in a short vowel and a consonant (hit, run, set, get), you have to double the last consonant, then add –ing.

·        Wrong: hiting (x)       

·        Right   hitting

 

*If the verb ends in consonant+e (share, make, write), then you don’t write the e when you add –ing.

·        Wrong: making (x)

·        Right:   making
